My favourite base spirit- Gin
Ask any bartender in the world, they will without a doubt have a favourite base spirit, usually a few they like and 1 or 2 they absolutely hate! Mine personally is gin. I can't get enough of gin drinks.
The original "Dutch Courage" and perfected by the Brits, gin has gotten a lot of bad rep over the years. Triple distilled and always having Juniper has a main botanical, it is a smooth and refreshing spirit that is easily drunk on its own or mixed into a drink.
The best part of gin is that every distiller makes a slightly different variation, meaning there are literally countless gins in the world!
Take a peek into my liqueur cabinet and see what ones I have.
The essentials.
These bottles are always in my cabinet, no matter what or when. Still Fired Distilleries Fundy Gin, Compass Distillers Spring GiNS, Hendrick's Gin, Dillon's Distillers Rose Gin.
The fun stuff.
These bottles are all extras I've picked up over the year. If I'm out somewhere and find a cool gin, or have the chance to try a cool gin I'll always buy a bottle. Doubly if it's a craft distillers bottle.
Dillion's Distillers Strawberry Gin and Unfiltered 22 Gin, The Botanist Islay Gin, Empress 1908 Gin, Barreling Tide Tide Gin, Plymouth English Gin. Missing from the photo is my bottle of Top Shelf Gin that somehow ended up left at Still Fired! Oops!
Now that you've had a sneak peek at my favourite gins, tell me what your favourite is! Maybe we can compare notes. If you're a distillery and you make a great gin, I'd love to try it!
